A developer open-sourced Provena, a self-hosted memory layer for AI agents built around MCP. It tackles the problem that agents can remember things without knowing where the memory came from: Provena stores memories as claims backed by original evidence, so retrieval includes provenance. It works with MCP clients like Codex, Claude Code, and Gemini CLI, and is listed in the official MCP Registry.
