Ryan Greenblatt announced he is joining METR to work on independent investigations like its Hugging Face report.
He argues that highly relevant basic information about AI development is not public, and recent events have shifted his skepticism about the value of public disclosure. In his view, getting verified information about what is happening inside AI companies is now particularly urgent for catastrophic risk assessment.
