Letting GPT-6 Play StarCraft via Computer Use—No MCP, No Game Tools, Protoss Ends It in Minutes
cedric_chee · x · 2026-09-29
The author documented an experiment letting GPT-6 play StarCraft: Brood War as Zerg against the computer, controlled entirely through computer use — no MCP, no game-specific tools, just a simple setup and a few priming prompts. The first game ran on Blood Bath, a small 64×64 map.
Results: Astra light got stuck finding the Terran opponent, Astra high defended too slowly, and against Protoss, Astra, Sol, and Luna all lost within minutes. The author cautions it's a small sample, but found the models' scouting, hesitation, and struggle to keep up genuinely interesting — and bets GPT-6+ will beat pro players next year, with a recorded round 2 planned.
