AI czar David Sacks slams extinction 'hoax': 4.1% unemployment, doomer job forecasts flopped

David Sacks, the White House AI czar, called out the labs, politicians, NGOs and media now pushing the AI "extinction hoax," noting the same crowd ran a full-scale jobs-apocalypse campaign last year—forecasting a "white-collar bloodbath," 10–20% unemployment, and half of entry-level jobs gone.
The data a year later: unemployment sits at 4.1%, there's no economy-wide displacement, The Economist credits AI with a million new jobs, and Anthropic's chief economist Peter McCrory says Department of Labor data shows no job where every task is automated by Claude—AI looks like skill-biased augmentation, not wholesale automation.
Sacks asked whether the doomers will admit error; his answer: they just move on to the next hoax with the same false certainty.
