12 interactive maps built entirely from open data with open-source GeoLibre
giswqs · x · 2026-09-28
giswqs showcases 12 interactive maps built entirely from public open data using open-source GeoLibre, spanning environmental health, human mobility, and environmental change — all live in the browser with no install or account. GeoLibre streams photogrammetry and mesh datasets as 3D Tiles via deck.gl over MapLibre; demos include Manhattan buildings extruded in 3D with a construction-era time slider (1850-2025) plus MTA subway layers, and planetary basemaps covering the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, the Galilean moons, Titan, Pluto and Charon, each with its own ellipsoid for accurate measurements. Docs, live collection and GitHub repo are all public.
