User prompts LLM via LilyPond to fuse Bach and jazz into an original piece
jzlegion · x · 2026-09-28
User @aug5thmusic shared "The Gilded Hour", a piece supposedly generated by "GPT-6 Astra" that blends Bach, Irving Berlin, and Cole Porter into an original style the author dubs "Bach Jazz".
The trick is prompting in LilyPond notation: ask for a piece for English horn, basso continuo, and a rhythm section combining Bach's sensibilities with early popular-song composers, in a major key with lush jazz harmonies. The model produced a playable score. Note: the "GPT-6 Astra" model identity is unverified.
