Open-source Editable Design: real text, independent layers, no more pixel-locked AI graphics

The author frames a classic trade-off: AI image generation delivers flattened pixels where titles, prices, and illustrations can't be edited as objects—any local change forces a full regen—while code generation keeps text real and layers movable but tends to look like a tidy webpage rather than designer-crafted art.
The open-source Editable Design project targets exactly this gap. It separates what the reference image contributes from what is actually shipped: text stays real, while illustrations, backgrounds, and decorative elements each live on independent layers. The workflow is: understand the brief and set canvas, hierarchy, and visual direction; call a visual model to explore composition rather than shipping the generated image; then generate independent layers—yielding designs that are both aesthetic and editable.
