Scale CEO's hiring take resonates: screen for people who actually care

A Substack post by Alexandr Wang is striking a chord: he argues you only need to screen hires for two things — whether they care about the company and whether they care about their work.
Commenters go further: billion-dollar companies are full of incompetent people in high-ownership roles who don't give a damn, and late-stage hires at scaled companies often won't do quality work unless monitored — a trend that only worsens with headcount growth.
