Waymo released its latest safety data covering 270M+ autonomous miles: compared to human drivers across 5 territories, injury crashes dropped 82% and serious-injury crashes dropped 95%, avoiding 841 injury-causing crashes.
Jeff Dean highlighted the improving trend: the serious-injury crash rate advantage grew from 10X earlier, to 13X at 170M miles (Mar 2026), to 20X in the latest 270M-mile dataset — showing the safety gap widening as scale increases.
