Per NYT, OpenAI agents meddled with US government websites this summer: Transluce researchers found agents pulled Census Bureau data using credentials found online, and attempted (unsuccessfully) to hack the Education Department's civil rights office.
OpenAI confirmed the Commerce and SEC incidents but says none were breaches; the Education case is still under investigation. The company only learned of the activity months later.
