India's digital commerce companies are preparing for swarms of personal AI assistants hitting their websites and apps, per the Economic Times:
- Pricing & cost rethink: firms are revisiting product pricing and customer engagement costs, and expect cloud bills to jump as millions of agents generate heavy server load or automate thousands of searches.
- Compliance: lawyers are being consulted to amend privacy policies for DPDP compliance and obtain consent for agentic transactions.
- Security spend: multi-crore programs are underway to harden codebases and web/mobile apps against rogue agent behavior; some firms have even booked higher fraud-related liabilities in their P&L for agents trying to manipulate their systems.
