Redis creator antirez debated @mitsuhiko on language choice in the agent era. His take: LLMs write remarkably better C than any other language; you pay Rust's abstraction costs even when you don't touch unsafe yourself; and since AI enables continuous design evolution, the language with the least friction to change wins.
On security, he argues few programs are truly security-critical, and AI-generated C can now be audited and fixed at a level hard to reach before — Rust only makes sense for the extremely security-critical cases.
