Anthropic launches Claude plugin submission portal as MCP usage surges 110x this year

Anthropic has opened a new directory submission portal for Claude plugins, letting paid-plan developers submit extensions, track review status, and view usage analytics after launch.
- Plugins package MCP connectors, Agent Skills, or both, and are the primary way to build third-party extensions for Claude; in Claude Code they can also include LSPs, commands, hooks, and agents
- Two submission paths: a single remote MCP server, or a plugin bundle hosted on GitHub (MCP servers + skills)
- The portal auto-validates and safety-scans submissions, and shows review status and feedback
- Anthropic says MCP usage across Claude products is up 110x this year, positioning plugins as the main way to build for Claude
