AMD hits $1T market cap: analyst argues it doesn't need to beat Nvidia to win through 2028

Analyst Beth Kindig lays out the AMD bull case after the company crossed a $1 trillion market cap this week — a milestone for a company that was near bankruptcy in 2014 when Lisa Su took over.
- When Kindig dubbed AMD the "Dark Horse" six years ago, it held just 4% of data-center CPU share against Intel's near-monopoly; AMD has since overtaken Intel in x86 server CPUs.
- At AI Investor Day 2025, Lisa Su said AMD has a "clear path to capturing more than 50% of server revenue share" (up from 40%) with a 60% data-center CAGR.
- In GPU servers AMD holds an estimated 5%-7% vs Nvidia's 85%+, but Kindig argues AMD's next-gen GPU roadmap can keep delivering higher returns than Nvidia through 2028 without overtaking it.
