Researcher: your AI take doesn't have to fit a naive optimistic-vs-pessimistic axis

Responding to Will Depue, nablatheta argues that takes on AI need not be binary "optimistic or pessimistic": you can believe true things and take good actions while remaining emotionally optimistic. The author has always been optimistic about AI's usefulness—turbocharging productivity short term and hopefully solving aging long term—noting none of this conflicts with it being likely to kill everyone.
