Warp raises $85M to launch Warp 2.0, an AI agent that runs HR, payroll and compliance

HR automation startup Warp announced an $85M raise and launched Warp 2.0, positioning its Warp Agent as "the first AI Head of HR."

What it does: The agent onboards new hires end-to-end, runs payroll with pre-run anomaly checks, resolves tax notices (e.g. California's DE 9C), and manages benefits. It pauses for approval when needed and logs every action.
Routines: Scheduled or event-triggered jobs, with default routines like "New Hire" plus plain-language custom ones — e.g. following up in Slack until a hire's training is done and payroll-ready.
Guardrails: Hard limits on money movements, requester identity checks, full audit trails, and a promise the agent can't raise its own salary.

The framing: delegate compliance drudgery to AI so HR can focus on culture and managers, and founders on clients and family.
