Peter Thiel: Europe fears AI less only because it's 'extremely far behind' the US

In a conversation with Mathias Döpfner, Peter Thiel argued Europeans fear AI far less than Americans do because Europe is so far behind that AI "isn't felt there" — the US is where AI is happening, China is a fast follower, while Europe lags extremely far back.
He noted Palantir's sales to US corporations have accelerated tremendously in recent years, driven by American companies' urgency to transform for the AI age — a urgency he says is largely absent in Europe. The post also quotes Palantir CEO Alex Karp: America seems to be the only Western country whose leaders believe it will still exist in 900-1000 years, while "none of the [European] leaders believe they're going to exist in 50 years."
