Devs: AI turns months-long projects into weekend POCs, quadrupling output

In a conversation with kchoudhu, RexDouglass argues AI coding tools let developers write code they wouldn't have dared attempt before — projects that once took months now become weekend POCs, and the bottleneck has simply moved up a level, with integration headaches remaining.
RexDouglass uses this to push back against "AI isn't authentic or creative" takes: critics simply haven't built enough. Anyone who actually makes things has roughly quadrupled their output and tinkering, he says — and since the window for gambling on months-long learning projects shrinks with age, AI has effectively reopened it.
