Judging AI productivity by output volume alone can hurt orgs more than help

Veteran engineer Allen Holub argues that making decisions based on AI output volume alone does more harm than good—organizations may be better off abandoning AI development entirely. He invokes Goldratt's "The Goal": just as robotic factory automation can damage overall productivity, AI code generators pose the same systemic problem. Any output-volume metric is worthless without assessing the entire product development flow.
