Prompt boxes are dying, and embedded app agents still lose to agents driving human tools

andpoul discusses agent app design: he's bullish on plugin/scripting APIs (approach A) and argues agents embedded within apps (approach B) have never beaten having the agent operate the human's existing tools. He adds that the prompt box as an interface is already fading — voice models are an example — but how humans and agents share tools simultaneously remains unsolved.
