Starlink Direct-to-Cell hits two milestones: Bangladesh approval and Uganda commercial launch

Two Direct-to-Cell milestones landed within 24 hours:
- Bangladesh: Banglalink received regulatory approval to launch Starlink Direct-to-Cell, making it the first South Asian country with the service. Regular 4G phones will connect directly to Starlink beyond terrestrial coverage, initially supporting SMS, data messaging and WhatsApp calls.
- Uganda: Airtel and Starlink officially launched commercial satellite-to-mobile service, extending SMS and light-data connectivity beyond cell towers — Airtel's second commercial Starlink mobile market in Africa after the DRC.
Starlink Direct-to-Cell is becoming real-world mobile infrastructure.
