Google Cloud published a summary of its January–September 2026 contributions to upstream PostgreSQL, arguing most people underestimate its investment. Work spans four areas: logical replication and conflict management (toward active-active replication), core engine performance (removing tuple-level overhead in sequential scans, accurate promotion timeouts), catalog/collation/indexing bug fixes, and hardening widely used extensions.
