Vic Gundotra, who started the Google Glass project, says Meta's new glasses repeat Glass's key mistake: blocking eye contact. His core insight — seeing someone's eyes during conversation is essential, and any dark lenses that hide them won't achieve mainstream appeal.
Robert Scoble adds backstory: Gundotra funded Glass and Android at Google; in 2002 he personally bought tablets from Scoble (then at NEC) with his own credit card, then 400 units for Microsoft's CEO summit, leading to Scoble joining Microsoft.
