HeyGen survey: 71.6% of small business owners film videos they never post; AI avatars fill the gap
HeyGen · x · 2026-09-25
HeyGen's survey of 1,000+ small business owners (The State of AI Avatars 2026) finds:
- 71.6% have recorded a business video and never posted it; 53.9% said it wasn't professional enough, 48.6% hated how they looked
- 69.3% agree video builds their brand and wins business; 55.6% say they lost business to a more visible competitor (69.6% in legal, 63.9% in real estate)
- Conclusion: AI avatars drop the cost of showing up on camera to near zero, letting trust-based professionals scale presence beyond their own time
The report doubles as product marketing for HeyGen, but the data is useful for brand video strategy.
