Linear CEO: Consumer AI hardware is skipping the nerd-early adopter stage too fast
_AustinCalvert_ · x · 2026-09-24
The shared take from Linear CEO Karri Saarinen: technologists are making the mistake of jumping straight to the mainstream (e.g. Humane-style devices). Computers, the internet and smartphones all evolved by first serving nerds with useful-but-hard precursors, then easier versions spread to everyone. The mainstream is far less ready to adopt new tech than technologists are to build it, and for consumers, "productivity and efficiency" is a hard sell. The quoted post mentions Zuckerberg unveiling a palm-sized voice-activated AI agent device "Muse Charm", shipping before the holidays and conspicuously ahead of OpenAI's mystery hardware.
