Anthropic announced a Claude-led discovery of a suspected new gene editing molecular machine, with Dario Amodei calling it PhD-level work. Scientist chandniraohere pushed back: Korn, Hillhouse, Sun & Gill had already reported the novel S. aureus jumbo phage clade and the 1.2 kb RT-associated noncoding region, arguing Anthropic's report lacks scientific integrity in crediting prior research.
