Epoch AI data shows that at a given performance level, AI costs have fallen 47% per quarter since 2023 — the fastest price decline of any transformative technology in history.
- 4× faster than DNA sequencing's cost decline
- 6× faster than compute (Moore's law), 18× faster than lithium batteries, and up to 54× faster than electricity (up to 1973)
The reposter adds that DNA sequencing beat Moore's law thanks to the embarrassingly parallel nature of genome decoding, and predicts AI's cost curve will follow a similar route for an even sharper drop.
