Dev Exposes Deepfake Job Interview by Asking 'Interviewer' to Hold Up 3 Fingers

Developer @costaio recounts a suspicious hiring interview: the 'interviewer' pushed him to clone and run a GitHub repo locally before the technical round. He asked them to hold up three fingers on camera — the person froze, dropped the call, and blocked him, exposing a real-time deepfake/AI overlay.
He warns these 'run this repo' scams are rampant in crypto and dev hiring, following a fixed script: flattering DM, plausible project, rushed timeline, and a 'quick step' that's actually remote access malware or a credential stealer. Defenses: never run code or install anything before establishing trust, and test with spontaneous on-camera actions that AI overlays struggle to perform.
