Anthropic can vaguely blame 'Claude' for anything — OpenAI's naming makes that impossible
dfrsrchtwts · x · 2026-09-24
A light but sharp observation: thanks to its single-brand strategy, Anthropic can say "Claude" did something without naming a specific model, while OpenAI's model-number-driven naming (GPT-4o, GPT-5, etc.) makes that kind of linguistic vagueness much harder — a subtle reflection of how differently the two companies think about brand and product naming.
