TaskRabbit for Nigeria: AI app tackles safe payments for informal artisans

An XPRIZE hackathon project MyFixam, shared by Peter Diamandis, positions itself as a TaskRabbit for Nigeria's informal artisan economy. The key insight: 93% of Nigerian employment is informal, and artisans' real pain point isn't discovery but getting paid safely — a baker with a million Instagram followers takes 100+ daily WhatsApp orders, manually verifies payments, and regularly gets scammed with fake transfer receipts.
The app lets customers find verified artisans across 29 trades, pay upfront into escrow, with the artisan paid once the customer confirms completion; the platform takes 10%. Gemini 2.5 Flash runs server-side across five production systems (AI profile completion, job moderation) with audit logs on every call — load-bearing AI, not decoration.
