AI researcher Will Depue argues that if your response to AI progress is "that means we should never build AI," "this will never happen because God is real and souls exist," or "the brain is not a computer but something quantum/mechanically different" — those are totally reasonable stances. He personally disagrees but finds them defensible, a charitable framing of the AI-skeptic camp.
