Two decades of digitizing the physical world turned out to be prep work for AI

The author observes that we spent twenty years digitizing roads, buildings, purchases, locations, supply chains, traffic and human behavior without knowing what would eventually use all that data. AI turned out to be the answer: we didn't just build intelligent software, we spent decades building a world it could increasingly understand.
