Analysis of 15 B2B blogs: top-ranking pages produced zero demos, and AI Overviews will eat what's left

A GTM agency practitioner with 8 years in SaaS reviewed analytics across 15 B2B blogs and found the same pattern: the #1 pillar page (8k-40k monthly visits) never generated a single demo.
Key arguments:
- Search volume is inversely related to buying intent. Students and competitors search "what is revenue operations"; the buyer searching before a $30k purchase googles symptoms like "hubspot deal stage not syncing to quickbooks".
- Optimizing for the algorithm forces you to write about the category, not the problem. His test: if a competitor could publish the post verbatim with their logo swapped in, it fails.
- AI Overviews have already killed the pillar page. "What is X" gets answered on the SERP; 12k visits will be 4k by spring.
- The real keyword list lives in sales call transcripts. The prospect's exact phrasing makes the best post title—zero volume in Ahrefs, but 150 monthly visitors who are all buyers.
His advice: pull a demos-by-page report instead of traffic-by-page. It takes 10 minutes and will ruin your week.
