Building a racing game with Claude: 'AI dev is a settings simulator'
Grobot93 · reddit · 2026-09-22
A dev shares progress on Oversteer, a racing game built with Claude: CC0 skyboxes from opengameart matched to a real sun position dramatically improved lighting and immersion; early access and playtests are weeks away. His AI-dev take: making a real game with AI means building endless settings menus for yourself to hand-tune — even the best AI can't feel your game. Key lesson: Claude treated him as an end user, so his exported build shipped none of his tuned config (and the first export destroyed the config file). Fix: teach the AI that your config is the authored experience, and version-control your config.
