Legal scholar proposes making AI developers liable when agents commit torts
NathanpmYoung · x · 2026-09-22
Gabriel Weil proposes a simple legislative fix for the AI-agent liability gap: if an act would be a tort when done by a human, someone must be liable — and where no downstream actor intended or was negligent toward the conduct, the buck should stop with the developer. The idea targets the gap in tort law as autonomous agents cause harm.
