Jean Kossaifi, an AI researcher of over a decade, argues modern AI was built on decades of shared science — Python (1991), NumPy (2006), scikit-learn (2010), Jupyter (2014) — contributed by universities, labs, companies and individuals. He contends it's unreasonable to benefit from that openness and then restrict who may build AI under the banner of safety.
