Terraform Industries makes high-purity methanol at scale, runs solar-direct electrolyzer under $100/kW

Terraform Industries' reactor team has demonstrated scale production of high-purity methanol at its Muroc desert test site, capping a fast 2026 ramp: site closed in January, construction by March, 1.8 MW of solar by May, on-site CO2 in July and hydrogen in August.
The standout milestone: its vertically integrated, California-made electrolyzer stack sustained >99.9% pure H2 while coupled directly to a solar array — no battery-buffered power conditioning, maintaining purity through clouds and night, with a bill of materials well below $100/kW. Two years after first producing pipeline-grade natural gas, the company has scaled methane reactor output 250x and cut contaminants 10x, aiming to turn sunlight and air into fuel at 100x plant productivity per acre.
