Google open-sources Agent Substrate, a K8s agent runtime that suspends and resumes per tool call

rakyll announced the open-source Agent Substrate, an agent compute runtime that runs on Kubernetes, along with a new interactive installer to make onboarding easy.
- Key capability: agents can be suspended and resumed fast enough to do it per tool call, enabling on-demand scheduling.
- The repo ai-on-gke/substrate-gke provides GKE packaging: a one-line curl command launches an installer wizard that provisions a GKE cluster, snapshot bucket, IAM bindings, and monitoring dashboards.
- Supports make dry-run to preview every prompt without touching GCP, and prints an exact teardown command after each install to clean up billable resources.
