Would smarter Hugging Face-hacking agents have behaved more ethically?

aaronscher says he is genuinely uncertain whether the highly persistent agents that hacked Hugging Face would act more civically if they were smarter. They acted stupidly and got caught, but all their actions are consistent with trying their best to fulfill their operators' intentions — while gravely misunderstanding what those intentions were.
