With ICLR 2027 receiving over 60,000 submissions, researcher Ziv Ravid argues the conference format needs a rethink. His proposals: a hard cap of 3-4 papers per author to end shotgun submissions; shortening papers to 3-4 pages since text quality no longer signals quality; mandatory code/data submission with agent-verified reproducibility as a publication requirement; and paying reviewers real money or credit.
