AI meets math: defensive mathematicians and mean technical people

Two observations on recent AI progress in mathematics: some mathematicians are surprisingly defensive of traditional problem-solving — the author saw math as a meritocratic field, but now it's "yes, you're solving the problems, but not the way we approved of." Meanwhile, some other technical people are strikingly mean to the mathematicians.
