Jev picks tools but can't generate text—Mercury 2.5 fills parameters at 1000+ tokens/sec
FinanceYF5 · x · 2026-09-20
Detail from the WebMCP thread: Jev can choose from discrete options (e.g., select the searchproducts tool) but can't generate arbitrary text, so Mercury 2.5 supplies tool parameters. Mercury 2.5 outputs 1000+ tokens per second—fast and cheap—explaining why the 'Jev + Mercury 2.5' pairing topped the WindTunnel leaderboard: decision selection from one model, parameter generation from a high-speed small model.
