Founder says he built non-autoregressive decision models a year before a frontier lab called the same idea a breakthrough

ConvAI Innovations' founder recounts publishing an arXiv paper (arXiv:2503.23303) in March 2025 on non-autoregressive decision models with RL, followed by a second paper (arXiv:2510.01237) formalizing RL-guided schema-based decisions, plus open weights, the saas-sales-conversations dataset, and a PyPI package.

In September 2026, TypeSafe AI — founded by ChatGPT co-inventor Diogo Almeida — launched Jev with nearly the same non-autoregressive decision concept, presented as a breakthrough, but with no technical paper and no open weights.

Alongside the critique, he releases Laya: an open System 1 decision engine delivering calibrated probability outputs in under 35ms, trained with RLCD, routing across 100+ languages, with a full benchmark board covering accuracy, 9 workflows, a 51-language sweep, T4 latency, and calibration repair.
