ScientistTwo: Google's fully autonomous multi-agent framework generates expert-level research

arXiv paper "ScientistTwo: Pioneering the Human Knowledge Frontier with Autonomous AI" (Google, Jaehyun Nam et al.) introduces a fully autonomous multi-agent research framework: given a problem, it establishes SOTA baselines, formulates hypotheses, runs end-to-end discovery cycles without human intervention, refines methods via automated ablations, and validates findings through a closed-loop simulated peer-review rebuttal engine. Benchmarked on ICLR/ICML/NeurIPS problems, it autonomously generates expert-level, publishable papers and fully verified codebases that consistently outperform human state-of-the-art baselines.
