Reddit user Goldenchild123 launched Historai, an app that turns any historical topic, moment, or person into a researched two-host podcast in about two minutes, complete with sources and period artwork. Its standout feature: press the mic mid-episode to ask a question, and the hosts answer and weave it back into the story.
Rather than using one model for everything, the author ran bake-offs between GPT, Claude, and Gemini models and picked a winner for each job—research and planning, script writing, artwork selection, and voices. The differences were bigger than expected: some models write great dialogue but plan poorly, others the reverse, and costs vary widely.
