Runway CEO Finds Labatut's New Book Cover Is a Frame from an AI Festival-Winning Short

Runway founder Cristóbal Valenzuela shares a coincidence: in a small bookstore in southern Chile he found a Labatut book he hadn't read (he recommends starting with When We Cease to Understand the World), and mid-flight realized the cover looked familiar. It turned out the cover image was a scene from the short by Jacob Adler, winner of the 2025 Runway Film Festival — Labatut had seen the film and reached out to Jacob. AI-generated imagery quietly landed on a literary book cover.
