Judea Pearl announced that the second edition of The Book of Why is scheduled for September 20, 2026. It will include reader-suggested revisions, recent causal inference breakthroughs (missing data, personalized medicine), a discussion of causal inference in the LLM era, and a perspective on "world models" and what structural causal models teach us about them. Pearl also shared Hinton's latest CNN interview, where the "godfather of AI" weighs congressional AI regulation proposals and argues a "kill switch" won't work in the long run.
