ICLR 2027 has received over 62,000 submissions by the abstract deadline, per a Kyoto University researcher, setting yet another record. Google researcher Gspandana called it a real stress test for peer review — and for LLM-assisted reviewing — wondering whether the system can hold up this time. The surge is widely attributed to AI-generated papers.
