Developer tusharck9 shipped an official OpenClaw channel plugin for WhatsApp, live on ClawHub and open-source.
- Built on WhatsApp's official Agent Platform API: no QR pairing, no unofficial libraries like Baileys, no ban risk; inbound is long-poll only, outbound via the official /messages endpoint
- Dependencies are just Node stdlib + the OpenClaw plugin SDK + zod
- Setup: create an agent in the WhatsApp app to get an API key, install via openclaw plugins install clawhub:whatsapp-agent-platform, paste the key in the Dashboard; keys use secret handling and never hit logs
- Caveat: currently only the agent's creator can chat with it
