DCVC investor James Hardiman recounts leading TypeSafe's seed round 18 months ago, when founders pitched a "reliable, fast, too-cheap-to-meter" intelligence primitive. Within 72 hours of launch, TypeSafe's first public model Jev became the fastest-adopted model in AI Gateway history, doubling the 24-hour adoption of any prior model — evidence, he says, of how badly the whole industry wanted it.
